MILFORD — Club duals in the morning. Kids of every age in the open. Feels like October in Delaware.
Thode Trained walked out with first place, 40–28 over Orchard South in a final. Team Smyrna grabbed third. Eight clubs, two pools, places one through eight. The open was a thinner crowd, but they wrestled away.
Was this the old Back to School Duals. It sure felt that way.

Route 1 already happened, out on the turf in Frederica with incredible weather — it was a unique outdoor event. Saturday was stamp number two. Next up is Primal Showdown. Youth, middle school, high school, girls — Compete covers it. Delaware wrestling needed an operator as Tyrant has gone National. It has one.
THE DUALS — FIRST PLACE, NO ARGUMENT
The field: Thode Trained, Orchard South, Team Smyrna, CDWA Gold, Stratton Trained, Allied Forces, Clay Monsters, CDWA Blue.
Two pools of four, then they lined them up for places.
| Place | Team | Placement dual | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Champion | Thode Trained | 40–28 over Orchard South |
| 2 | Second | Orchard South | |
| 3 | Third | Team Smyrna | 37–31 over CDWA Gold |
| 4 | Fourth | CDWA Gold | |
| 5 | Fifth | Stratton Trained | 43–26 over Allied Forces |
| 6 | Sixth | Allied Forces | |
| 7 | Seventh | Clay Monsters | 46–18 over CDWA Blue |
| 8 | Eighth | CDWA Blue |
Thode rolled out a Delaware medal rack: Jaden Uhde, Logan King, Jeremiah Heath, Turhan Potter, Seth Milligan. They beat Clay Monsters, Allied Forces, and CDWA Gold before they ever saw Orchard South. Then they saw Orchard South. That one went 40–28.
Smyrna finished third without Uhde. He was across the room in a Thode singlet. Michael Pierson, Jamen Haliburton, and Gabe Crenshaw did the heavy lifting. Orchard South — the Maryland club — won its pool and made Thode work.
THE STATE CROWD
Sixteen boys who placed at the 2026 DIAA tournament showed up. Alexis Smith came over from the girls bracket. A couple more made last year’s state field. Kids bounced weights to fill holes. Here is how the medalists spent Saturday.
Jaden Uhde (Smyrna, 2nd at 106) went 4–0 for Thode at 113/120. The keep-the-tape one was the final: 5–4 over Sincere Wilcox. He majored Herman Littleton 13–3 for dessert. Super 32 is in two weeks.
Michael Pierson (Smyrna, 2nd at 113) went 4–0 at 120 and ran Smyrna’s room. Beat Littleton 4–1 when third place was on the table. Pinned Ferdinand. Pinned Newsome.
Cole Perrin (DMA, 2nd at 120) went 4–0 at 126 for Allied Forces. Decision, tech, two falls. Allied finished sixth. Perrin finished undefeated.
Logan King (Sussex Tech, 3rd at 138) jumped to 150 for Thode and went 4–0. Majored Tosto 12–1 in the final. Beat Dorell 5–0 in the pool. Two pins. Moved up. Still owned the weight.
Jeremiah Heath (Caesar Rodney, 2nd at 190) went 4–0 at 215/285 for Thode. Teched Emel, beat Trainor 10–3 in the final, 4–2 over Collingsworth.
Turhan Potter (Caesar Rodney, 3rd at 175; the sheet said TJ) went 3–1 at 175/190. Tech and a fall in the pool. The loss? The final. Shane Morrell of Orchard South, 8–1.
Jamen Haliburton (Smyrna, 4th at 120) went 3–0 at 126/132. Paley 6–0. Farissier 8–6. Adkins, pin. Didn’t lose. This kid wrestles a ton.
Gabe Crenshaw (Smyrna, 4th at 132) went 3–1 at 138/144. Morgan got him 4–1. Then Crenshaw got Amalfitano 8–4, Diaz 8–0, and Cooper in 30 seconds.
Herman Littleton (Milford, 4th at 113) went 2–2 at 120 for CDWA Gold. The two losses were Pierson and Uhde.
Reginald Ferdinand (Laurel, 4th at 106) went 2–2 at 120 for Stratton. Majored Cephas. Lost to Pierson and Newsome.
Ryan Farissier (Milford, 5th at 106) went 2–2 at 126. Perrin and Haliburton got him. He put two kids on their backs the other way.
Andrew Amalfitano (Woodbridge, 5th at 132) went 1–3 at 138. One pin. Then Spence, Crenshaw, and Morgan.
Ezekiel O’Hara (Laurel, 6th at 138) went 3–1 at 150 for Stratton. Two techs. Tosto caught him.
Dometrius Dorell (Milford, 7th at 138) went 3–1 at 150 for CDWA Gold. The one that counted against him was King, 5–0.
Seth Milligan (Sussex Central, 7th at 126) went 3–1 at 157 for Thode. Whitney beat him 10–5 in the final. He beat Garrett and Morrow before that.
Jonathon Ramirez (Sussex Central, 8th at 106) went 2–2 at 113 for Stratton. Two pins. Then Aurand teched him and Wilcox pinned him.
Johnny Spence (Caesar Rodney, 2026 state qualifier at 138) went 4–0 at 138/144 for Allied Forces. Three techs. The tight one was 8–5 over Amalfitano.
Parker Hampton (Indian River, 2026 state qualifier at 106; 6th at Henlopen) went 4–0 at 106 for Stratton. Three majors and a fall. Nobody took him to a decision.
Alexis Smith (Dover, girls 3rd at 107) jumped into boys 106 for CDWA Blue and went 0–3. Tough room. She still walked in.
THE REST OF THE CARD
Daewon Nguyen went 4–0 at 106 for CDWA Gold. Decisions and majors.
Caden Aurand (Smyrna) went 3–1 at 113. Teched Ramirez. Beat Haddock 6–5 for third. Wilcox got him 6–4. Right there with the medalists.
Cahl Oliver (Caesar Rodney, incoming 215) went 3–1 at 215/285 for Allied Forces. Beat Condon 3–1. Lost 8–6 to Emel. Freshman in a duals lineup. Remember the name. Goodbye baseball, hello wrestling. He is working hard.
Levi Perez (Indian River) bounced 165 and 175 for Stratton. One contested pin. Same kid, two weights, club duals.
Orchard South’s unbeaten crew — Billy Whitney (157), Eli Glover (144), Ryan Morgan (138), Shane Morrell (175) — is why a Maryland club took second in a Delaware building. Whitney beat Milligan. Morrell beat Potter. Morgan beat Crenshaw. That’s how you turn 28–40 into a fight.
THE OPEN — SMALLER ROOM, SAME MATS
The open was the other half of the flyer. Bantam to high school. Girls on a Madison system. Rapid-fire. Combined weights.
A few duals names hung around. Johnny Spence won 138–144. Jase Diaz took second. Nathan Morrow swept 140–150. Landry and Cooper came back and got theirs. Lily Moffett and Chloe Freese — Caesar Rodney girls, both 2026 state placers — were the high-school girls story, and they didn’t need a packed bracket to make it one.
HIGH SCHOOL AND THE BIGGER KIDS
138–144 — Johnny Spence, champ. Teched Landon Benoit (Middletown) 20–5 in the semi. Pinned Jase Diaz, 15–2 in 2:50, in the final. Kareem Alexander (Middletown) took third, 9–4 over teammate Landon Benoit. Colten Perry (Seaford) fifth. Five-man bracket. Spence was the best wrestler in it, and it was not close.
106–120 — Greyson Subity (Stratton) went 2–0. Teched Moffett 15–0, pinned Cooper. Lily Moffett (Caesar Rodney, girls 2nd at 107) opened with a 9–6 over Cooper, then ran into a buzzsaw. 1–1. She came to wrestle. She wrestled.
130–140 — Chloe Freese (Caesar Rodney, girls 6th at 138) went 2–0 over Harbor Landry: 11–0, then a pin in 55 seconds. Two-person group. She cleaned it out.
125–130 and 126–132 — Jaquod Rogers (Smyrna Little Wrestlers). Same kid, two combined weights, both of them his. Won 125–130, 10–0 over Xavier Lewis (Milford). Went 3–0 at 126–132 with three pins, Palmer of Seaford included. Xavier Lewis took second at 125–130 and went 2–0 at 120–130. Busy day for Milford. Busier day for Rogers.
140–150 — Nathan Morrow (CDWA) 2–0 over Greenlief of Seaford. Tech, then a pin.
150–157 — Caldwell Ford (CDWA) 3–0. Decision and a pin over Cornish. Ford went 2–6 at Columbus Day. Saturday he was home. It showed.
165–180 — Mason Frederick (Parabellum) 2–0. Beat Harmon 4–1 when they ran it back.
115–120 — Gabriel Moore (Mid Shore) 2–0 over Graviet of McDonald Wrestling Academy.
THE LITTLE ONES
40–50 and 60 — Austin Ches (Diamond State Inferno). Same kid, two groups, 4–0. Tech and a major at 40–50. Tech and a 16-second pin at 60. Somebody get this child a sandwich and a trophy.
60–65 — Sly Simancek (Mat Ratz) won it. Pinned Q’marri McAfee (Headhunters) in the final, 7–0 in 1:18. McAfee had pinned his way there. Andrew Lewis (Garage Kids) took third. Audrey Olivieri (Headhunters) fourth — and she also went 2–0 at 60–70 over Alston of Milford. Same wrestler. Two weights. She got her money’s worth.
65–73 — Andrew Lewis again. 3–0. Sudden victory over Maletto, pin over Morris, 1–0 over Seyidov. Third at 60–65, first at 65–73. Count him once. He still had a day.
70–75 — Delainie Nguyen (Headhunters) went 3–0. Major, decision, tech. Maverick Davis (Diamond State Inferno) was 4–1 and beat everybody except the bracket sheet. Combined group. Both kids scored.
80–85 — Josiah Murray (Milford / Henlopen Hammers) went 4–0. Major, two techs, a pin. Donoway of the Seahawks took the long way around that bracket.
90–95 — Declan Solito (Seahawks) 3–0, including 12–0 over Parker Lewis of the Hammers.
90 — Zane Longo (McDonald Wrestling Academy) 2–0. Colton Collins (Mount Royal) wrestled a ton and went 3–2.
95–105 — Douglas Hazel (Greenwood) 3–0, two techs and a pin. Parker Olivieri (Headhunters) 2–1.
95–100 — Michael Mendick (Diamond State Inferno) 2–0, two first-period pins. The kid is lights out. A true assassin.
100–110 was a three-way round robin. Wyatt, Hall, Riley. Each went 1–1. No clean champ in the file. They still got on the mat.
That’s the open.
